Abstract
The Triassic tempestites which have been discovered in western Guangxi in recent years are distributed in an area of about 160×80 km. The tempestites are exposed in the lower part of the Middle Triassic, comprising about 194 layers, with a total thickness of 63 m. The tempestiites are mainly characterized by well developed hummock bedding, wave cross-bedding and scourlng-filling structures such as bowl mold and channel mold, resulting from the storm action in an opera shelf.
