PRELIMINARY ANALYSIS OF THE STRUCTURES IN THE RIFT SYSTEM AT THE NORTHERN MARGIN OF THE YANGTZE PLATFORM

According to sedimentary rock associations, magmatic activity and petrochemical characteristics coupled with the history of the crustal evolution and structural deformation, the paper discusses the tectonic assignment of the vast region north of the Yangping Pass-Dabashan fracture zone and south of Liuba-Shanyin-Yhechuan fracture zone. It is suggested that tectonically this region should belong to the early Sinian-terminal Silurian rift belt at the northern margin of the Yangtze platform.
