• A large number of Early Paleozoic intrusive rocks exposed in the Wenqaun area of the northern margin of the Yili Block (YB), which are important for the understanding of the early Paleozoic tectonic background and tectonic evolution of the northwestern Tianshan orogen. The Haerdaban granodiorite intrusion, located to the south of the Wenquan county, intrude the Mohesayi Formation of the Neoproterozoic, and was overlain by the Early Devonian volcanic sedimentary strata with a sedimentary contact. We conducted U-Pb chronology, Sr-Nd isotope and geochemical analysis for the Haerdaban granodiorite. The zircon U-Pb age of the granodiorite 466±7Ma(MSWD=3.0), it was generated in the Middle Ordovician. SiO2 content ranges from 60.6% to 62.2%, total alkali ranges from 6.79% to 7.20%, K2O/Na2O ratios range from 0.56 to 0.75, and A/CNK ranges from 0.83 to 1.04. The large ion lithophile elements (K, Rb, Sr, Ba, and Pb) are enriched, whereas the high field strength elements (Nb, Ta, Ti, Y, and P) are depleted; the content of rare earth elements is moderate; and there is a faint positive europium anomaly (Eu=1.04~1.08).The above characteristics indicate that the granodiorite belongs to aluminous high K calc-alkaline series type I granite with a continental arc environment. The Nb/Ta value in the rock was 13.3, close to the upper crust, Mg# was 49.3~53.4 and the Nd isotope study of zircon showed that the εNd(t) value was (-0.57~-0.41), and the two-stage model age TDM2=(1236~1249)Ma, indicating that the granite source area was a shell source , and a small amount of mantle source material was added to form the characteristics of shell-mantle mixed source magma. The Haerdaban granodiorite formed in the Middle Ordovician continental margin arc environment, which may be related to the subduction of the Junggar Ocean towards the northern margin of the Yili Block.
