Evaluation of black land quality in Sanjiang Plain based on minimum data set: A case study of Baoqing Plain

    • Soil quality evaluation is the key to precision agriculture and scientific land management and utilization, 【Objective】Mapping and evaluating the quality and overall spatial distribution of black land under different land use methods can provide a scientific reference for black land protection and sustainable use.【Method】Taking the black land in the Baoqing Plain as the research object, a total of 299 soil samples were collected, and 31 evaluation indicators were comprehensively selected as the total data set (TDS), , Using principal component analysis (PCA) and correlation analysis to construct the minimum data set (MDS). Spatial distribution map of black land quality index was generated using a geostatistical approach based on ordinary kriging interpolation. 【Result】The results show that there is a significant linear correlation between black land quality index(BLQI)values calculated based on MDS and TDS, and the quality of black land under different land use modes is significantly different. Grassland and paddy fields are larger than dry land, and woodland is the lowest. The Gaussian model is best for predicting most unknown values of BLQI. The quality of black land presents a certain regularity in the spatial distribution. The closer it is to the Naoli River Basin in the north, the better the quality. The quality of most black land is at the upper-middle level and the production potential is greater. 【Conclusion】The black land quality evaluation results based on MDS can effectively provide a scientific basis for black land management.
