Abstract: A classification of sedimentary deposits has been proposed on the basis of regional geological mapping at a 1∶50 000 scale conducted in the red continental basin of Jian-Taihe, Jiangxi. All the deposits in this basin fall into 7 categories, namely, the alluvial fan, braid river, peri lake, shallow lake, deep lake, lake delta and relict lake swamp sedimentary systems. Each of them is briefly described.
